Le Pettit Chablus is the best restaurant in Canon City & an excellent French restaurant by any measure. The owners are absolute delights. Chef Daniel is a French born & trained chef, & it shows. Must stop here if you're in town.

Food was good, not fantastic. I came expecting French food, like I get in France. Portions were huge, which I guess is an American thing, but left me no room for the dessert which I really wanted, but since I couldn't even eat my entire entree... The cheese plate was not creative, nor good, 2 kinds of brie cheese, pre sliced Kraft style swiss cheese, cream cheese with onion seasoning, plain goat cheese, Baby Bell cheese sliced in quarters, but at least the blue cheese was good. The French Onion soup was more like a cream of onion soup: very little onion, cream base, the seasoning was good, as was the amount of melted cheese over the top. I had the Monk fish which was so overbreaded, I couldn't taste the fish at all. The broccoli side was over cooked and soggy, but the cabbage was tasty. My son had the salmon in a flakey crust, which was overcooked and dry, but came with a hollandaise sauce which helped. They also had no Pinot Noir, but some substitute kind. Our waitress was a bit under trained on food pronunciation, and menu knowledge, she didn't know what the cheeses were, and had to ask. She had her hands full with a party of 11, which left us sitting often times for a long time, the only time she got help from the other waitress was snatching up my credit card to pay for the bill. We purposely under dressed to see how we'd be treated. I think this restaurant could be a 4 or a 5 with a little more attention and passion, plus updating the restaurant, it looks like my great grandmothers parlour, which explains the very old crowd that was there that evening. Younger look would get younger crowd along with more broiled items, and healthier choices. Good luck.

I went here because the old time favorite italian restaurant in Canyon City had closed. I was at a loss for what to do. I had been meaning to try this place. This place is pricey, as are a lot of French places. It's a small operation--there were a barely a handful of tables being served mid week when I ate. The food was good--unfortunately I don't remember what I had, it was a month ago. Instead of the food, two things stand out in my mind about this meal. Last but listed first is the fact that I had specifically asked that my bar bill be separated from my meal--which it was not. At the time I made this request it was 5 pm on a weeknight, I was the only customer. When I pointed it out to the waitress at the end of the meal, she offered to fix it and I gave her cash for my bar bill. Instead of fixing the problem she brought back the ticket supposedly showing that the problem has been fixed. However when I got back to the office I realized the full amount of the bar bill was on my employer's ticket still. I called the restaurant the next day when I saw the receipt had not been fixed because I wanted to make sure they'd fix the problem. This time the owner's wife, the accountant, assured me that the problem has been fixed. I never saw anything until the bill came when still it was wrong. The best I can figure is, the waitress took the cash for the wine & never credited the bill. The owner said she fixed it but didn't listen to me. The second thing I remember is that there was a group of 4-6 Texans that came in, and they were the only other table in the room while I dined. Their conversation, I am sorry to say, was so rude & offensive it must be noted they managed to offend both older women and other ethnic groups in one dinner. One wonders if the only group they respected was wealthy white male doctors. They were not drunk. In short Because of the food, I might try again, but I would be wary of going without finding out staffing info or requesting a more private table. It is a shame when problems like this completely dtract from a dining experience. My bill for one was 70 or 80 dollars with wine.

We enjoyed the entire experience - decor, service, menu, food - while we were in the restaurant. Unfortunately, one of our party got sick afterwards from the feuilleté de saucisson. This takes our five-star rating down to a four. I would definitely go back, but would steer clear of the saucisson. Also enjoyed a visit to the charming bakery and cafe next door, though the cream puffs tasted like they had sat in the refrigerator too long.

You will enjoy this place. Great atmosphere, excellent service. Food is nothing you can get without going way out of the way. Money well spent. Good French wines. Make a reservation because this is a small quaint place with atmosphere and limited seating.

This place is damn near perfect. They were full but I begged for a reservation. I was told they may need to slow the service at the beginning due to a party. They did but made up for it with quickly delivered excellent food (once ordered). The french onion soup and salad were excellent. Our rib eye was not a great piece of steak but the tournedos de poivre was excellent as was the duck. Desserts were very good as well. This is a chef owned cozy house of a restaurant and has to be Canon City's best offering. People in our group were supreme food snobs and everyone LOVED IT here. Thanks for a great night!

Came here on one of my first nights in Cañon City and certainly wasn't disappointed. The ambience is beautiful outside and inside the old Victorian house, right down to the custom-made Limoges plates used to serve all the food. The owner/chef, Daniel, was very friendly and happy to go through the menu with us while we enjoyed some wine. It was hard to choose based on all the mouth-watering options available, but eventually we all found something that did not leave anyone disappointed. I went for the salmon-in-pastry concoction, which would have been delicious on its own, but was very well-complemented by the grilled (?) and lightly seasoned vegetables and rice that came on the side. I also had to go for the French onion soup, since it's one of my favorite things to eat in this world -- it was very good; the only issue was that it wasn't quite hot enough when it arrived and so the cheese kind of ended up as one big lump that was difficult to get smaller pieces of with each bite. The dessert definitely won't disappoint! There's a huge selection of homemade cakes, mousses, and even a tiramisu that was prepared and served in a way I'd never seen before. I certainly recommend leaving room for this course. It also looks like there's a prix fixe menu option available -- 3 courses for high $20s or low $30s (I can't remember) that definitely seems like a good way to go as well. Had to take one star off for the soup and the waitress, who was very nice but several times tried to take my plate away while I was still eating, leaving us feeling somewhat rushed to finish the meal. (Restaurants do seem to close earlier than they do in Denver, but I believe we left well before 9 and were only there for 1.5 hours in total.) But all that considered -- if you've been less than impressed with experiences at Le Central in Denver, you'll be pleasantly surprised to find that this place is waaaay better, hands down.

One of the finest restaurants anywhere. Chef Daniel could make a brown paper sack taste good, but the fish is fresh, the lamb chops are outstanding, and the crawfish pie is amazing. Save room for dessert. I've had them all but my two favorite are carrot cake and bourbon pecan pie. Service is leisurely because the meal is supposed to be a night out event like in Paris. I've been to Paris and Le Petit Chablis is better! Not cheap but worth it. If it's over your budget come for lunch. Smaller portions but significantly less cost and the same food.

By far the best meal I had in Canon City. Situated downtown in a Victorian house, I was told by locals it's the best restaurant in town, and I verified that fact for myself. Excellent service and superb food. I had the beef tenderloin which was one of the best, if not the best, one I've ever had. And that's saying a lot. I travel for my job constantly and I try a filet mignon or beef tenderloin everywhere I go. The whole experience was 5 star including the delicious bread pudding I had for desert and the French onion soup I had as an appetizer. I may never leave...

ORGASMIC! That's really all I can say. The chef is actually from France, and he makes everything fresh according to what's in season. If you really want something amazingly decadent, order the bread pudding. It is the absolute best desert, and even though it's rich, you won't want to share at all. If I could have licked the plate without looking like a heathen, I would have done so!

We visited this restaurant during our Colorado travels. It was excellent! I had the Chicken marsala & my husband had the lamb chops. My husband thoroughly enjoyed the lamb chops & garlic sauce. The chicken Marsala was excellent as well! We had the scallops for an appetizer that were perfectly cooked & were covered in a lobster sauce that was probably the best scallops we have ever had! We also tried the French onion soup that didn't disappoint. For dessert as had the tiramisu and it was a let down after such a delicious meal. We wish we would have tried the bread pudding or praline crepe.

My mom and I stayed the night in Canon City, CO after antique shopping in the nearby town of Florence. We decided to check out La Petit Chablis since it was just down the street from our hotel. It's in an old adorable house and is filled with lovely decor and antiques. The French china on the tables was very beautiful. We ordered the Paella dinner with Banana Foster for dessert. This was one of the best meals we've ever had! The seafood was incredibly fresh and the seasoning was spectacular. Desert was delicious and not too heavy. If you come through this area, this is a hidden gem that is a must to check out.

Canon city is not known for its good restaurants, but this jewel would shine anywhere!! The food is excellent and the lunch prices are moderate. I highly recommend it as the best restaurant, by far, in town.

This is authentic French food made by an authentic French chef. We have been to some of the finest restaurants around the world, and this ranks among our five favorite. It is truly a diamond in the rough. The French Onion Soup is not to be missed. Service is wonderful, and there is an extensive wine list. Great all-around!

Frustratingly SLOW! It took 30 minutes to take our drink order. Then another 45 minutes to get the appetizer! We were told sorry there is a large party upstairs - can I say not my problem I made my reservation sounds like they over booked. The whole meal took 2 hours and 45 minutes. I really did not feel special and paid $130.00 for the experience. Food was pretty good but the service was terrible.

The food at La Petit Chablis is authentic French cuisine. Very delicious. Nicely presented. Variety in the menu.

No trip through Canon City would be complete without a stop at his world class French restaurant operated by former Broadmoor chef Daniel Petit and his wife Michelle. My favorite date night restaurant on Earth! Don't forget the bread pudding, even after a full meal, it's worth the "pain."

Went here for a work function for my fiancé. Enjoyed the food - especially the dessert! Service was great.

The food and staff are wonderful. The seating is a little cramped. They're opening a bakery/cafe next door so maybe stop in there to check it out.

This is perhaps one of the finest restaurants I have EVER visited. From the appetizers to the salad to the entree to dessert, everything was superb. Though a bit pricey, Le Petit Chablis is worth every penny. And if you want to impress a date, this is definitely the place! They were absolutely packed and could have used one more server - but the service really didn't suffer. If I didn't live so far away, I would definitely be a regular. I cannot recommend Le Petit Chablis highly enough. My only regret is the lack of veal on the menu - but the beef tenderloin and onion soup more than made up for that. My friend had the stuffed red snapper and was simply amazed, as she was with the chocolate mousse. Truly, a magnificent respite from every day living.

I stopped by this quaint restaurant on my way to Colorado Springs for business. I liked the fact that the restraunt use to be a Victorian style house. The inside was a little cramp but very cozy. The food was very delicious and the service was excellent.

We were so excited to try this place, hoping to find a small jewel in Canon City. The ambience is nice and the waitstaff friendly. They were a bit loud translating the ( cute & authentic ) chalkboard menu full of classic French dishes. The French bread was great but the dissolution began with the cheese plate - a sliced "Swiss" cheese, a quartered babybel, low end Brie, blue and gruyere. We'll skip the Pate du maison plate, except to say his homemade duck liver pate was tasty. Nice big bowl of hot gumbo was meh, nothing to come back for. The escargot was why Americans do not order escargo! Gritty, slimy without the butter to dip the bread in. Half of the canard du l'orange was inedible (the other half we had no problem chowing down. The sauce for the steak au poivre was a waste and the orange sauce, lacking. Fortunately, the wine list has some good choices and we started with a nice cava, the only sparkling by the glass. Big city prices that didn't deliver. :( we didn't even stay for dessert - which probably would have been the best part.

The food here has nothing to do with France, a country my wife and I know well. Zero awareness of the season, mediocre ingredients, bad bread and sky-high prices at dinner. They survive due to the near-total lack of competition. Eat at Mainstreet Grille in nearby Florence and go to a real French restaurant in the big city.

My Fiancee drive by this little victorian house weekly. We finally made the time to stop in and what a wonderful surprise. The food was to die for and the owner/cook was so wonderful to talk to!! They also own the bakery next door, and I can not wait to try that!!! I recommend this to everyone. Even to take a small drive to get there would be so worth it. I just wish they had one in G.J. We'd be there all the time!!! You can tell these owners put their whole life into the place being just perfect. We were there around Christmas, and the decorations were exquisite!!!
